Women in the City was founded by Gwen Rhys, CEO of Networking Culture Limited. Having launched, developed and managed a successful network of women entrepreneurs between 1996 and 2003 she knew the benefits to be gained from bringing together like-minded business women and she knew, too, that City-based professional women would benefit from the opportunity to share experiences and develop business relationships with each other.
Her idea was to host a quiet lunch for around 50 women but within weeks of sending out an invitation word spread and three months later, 200 women attended the first Women in the City Annual Lunch.
Since then Women in the City has become a registered trade mark of Networking Culture Limited and has a strong brand presence. It offers a range of products and services to UK and international audiences and attracts sponsorship from some of the world’s best-known brands and companies. Women in the City continues to be managed by Networking Culture Limited a company that focuses on helping individuals and organisations to invest in and manage its social capital.
