Although the London Market is still male dominated, it is changing rapidly and I am proud to be a part of that change.”
Insurance category winner, Sue Langley, joined Lloyd’s of London as Director of Market Operations and North America in July 2007 with a remit to ensure that market operationing strategy remains at the top of the Lloyd’s agenda. Sue is also responsible for managing Lloyd’s office network in the United States and Canada.
Previously, Sue was Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Executive team for the Hiscox Group. She is a member of the London Market Group, a group of senior executives representing the market. Sue also chaired the ‘G6’ – a group of six Lloyd’s managing agents that was formed to identify practical opportunities to streamline and improve the Lloyd’s market.
Sue is currently a Board Member of Acord and is a Vice President Insurance Institute London (IIL). In 2009 Sue received the IIL President’s Award in recognition of her contribution to the Institute.
Prior to joining Hiscox, Sue was a Principal Consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, specialising in change management and worked with a range of FTSE 100 companies. She moved to PwC from Thomson Tour Operations, where she focused on programme management.
Sue has supported women throughout her career, through Retail, Consulting and now Insurance. She is passionate about developing talented individuals and giving them advice and referrals. She is also a regular speaker and mentors women both within and outside the insurance sector.
Sue studied geography at Southampton University and lives in Hertfordshire.
