Launched in 2010 and sponsored by blackswan, The Parity Award recognises an exceptional WOMAN or MAN who can demonstrate that s/he has made a significant personal contribution to or impact upon culture change within his/her team, department, organisation in order to enhance gender equality and support a culture in which women can and do thrive.

The Winner of The Parity Award will be someone exceptional. In particular, the Judging Panel will be assessing the impact, sustainability and transferability of the Winner's actions and initiatives.

Criteria

  • Open to both men and women
  • Working at managerial level in professional services organisations (accountancy, built environment, facilities management, financial services, insurance, legal services, management consultancy)
  • Working within any business area (including for example, marketing/HR/Diversity/IT)
  • Located in London's business hubs (Canary Wharf, the City and West End)

NOTE: This award is looking for a significant culture change and is not focusing solely on 'female-friendly' policies such as maternity leave, etc.

Candidates need to show evidence of:

  • How they identified and removed the barriers to parity for women
  • Impact of removal of barriers
  • Sustainability of removal of barriers
  • Transferability of initiative across the organisation or sector

The Award Timetable

  • Nominations open 1 October
  • Closing date for Nominations and Applications 15 November
  • Short-listing of Applicants 18 November
  • Judging Panel Interviews for short-listed Candidates by telephone week 19, 22 November
  • Announcement of winner 26 November at the Women in the City Annual Celebration Lunch.
