The Women in the City Awards Programme promotes, recognises and rewards women working in the professional services sector in London's business hubs. The new Future Leaders Award, identifies talented, high-potential women who are driving forward their careers and complements Women in the City's established Woman of Achievement Awards recognising senior and partner-level women.
Gwen Rhys, founder and CEO of Women in the City is delighted with today's result. She added;
"Congratulations to Felicia and well done for a much deserved honour. This award shines a spotlight of attention on the future talent working within London, and clearly demonstrates the value and importance of the role women are playing in the City.
"Our aim is to encourage these women by highlighting their success, enabling them to enhance their leadership skills and providing a support network of like-minded professionals."
The Award's judging panel was chaired by Dr Veronica Burke, Director of the Accelerated Talent Development Programme and the General Management Programme at Cranfield University.
She said: "Cranfield School of Management is delighted to be working with Women in the City as academic sponsor and I'm confident that by offering a place on our Accelerated Talent Development Programme the winner will be able to make a substantial and enduring business impact in her future career."
Craig Jones MBE, Global Head of Diversity, Barclays Wealth, the Award's sponsors said: "As a firm Barclays Wealth needs the most productive and creative employees, individuals who can see the opportunities and challenges from all angles for our clients. Only a truly diverse workforce can bring those qualities and without a doubt, attracting, developing and motivating diverse talent is a priority for us. We are proud to be associated with Women in the City and these Awards."
On accepting her award Felicia said:
"I am honoured and humbled to be named the first ever Women in the City Future Leaders Award Winner. I would like to thank Women in the City for providing such a great platform for raising the profile of women's professional contributions in London, and for securing sponsors who are just as dedicated to developing female talent. I would also like to thank my clients and teams, all of whom have instilled in me the value of integrity and maintaining a sense of fun and perspective at work. Thank you, too, to the Deloitte leadership team for nominating me, and for backing their diversity, talent and community investment initiatives with such genuine resolve.
"As someone who has always been content to stay out of the spotlight and let my work speak for itself, I am flattered to have won an award which celebrates qualities such as self awareness, mentoring, and personal development, as well as future leadership potential. This award is a fantastic way to encourage women to stay true to their values and what makes them uniquely female - especially in industries such as technology where we still represent the minority - whilst increasing our exposure to a network of like-minded, inspirational women across a range of professions in the process.
"I am very much looking forward to the experience at Cranfield, and hope through my time there I will be able to emulate those leaders who have inspired me to date."
