The Women in the City Awards identify excellence and celebrate the achievements of senior and partner-level professionals working in the City of London, Canary Wharf, and Mayfair. Now in their third year the awards draw over 350 women to the Women in the City Lunch & Awards ceremony in November.
Pleased with today’s results, Gwen Rhys, Chief Executive and founder of Women in the City, said;
“So much work goes into the nomination, judging and final selection process, and each of these women has earned her place as the winner of their category. Women continue to play an important role in the City of London and our awards scheme is designed to celebrate their efforts, focus attention on the work they are doing, and to encourage the next generation of female leaders to rise to the challenge.
“Furthermore, in just three years these awards are now an established part of the City scene and continue to grow in popularity and attract high calibre candidates.”
The six finalists will go on to compete for the overall Jaguar 2009 Woman of Achievement Award, which will be presented on Friday, 27th November at the 7th Annual Women in the City Lunch held at Plaisterers’ Hall, London. This year Women in the City also launched a new award, the Coutts Lifetime Achievement Award and the winner of this award will also be revealed on Friday, 27th November.
The Awards judging panel is chaired by Prof Susan Vinnicombe, OBE, Director of the International Centre for Women Leaders at Cranfield School of Management.
