Partner, Eversheds LLP
I am delighted to win an award that enables us to keep the issue of women’s education and advancement in the public eye. There is no room for complacency; progress with women on boards comes only after considerable effort. The courage and determination of Malala Yousafzai should motivate us all to work to improve equality for women worldwide.
She has extensive management experience leading teams responsible for legal and public affairs, insurance and risk, pensions, shares schemes, CSR and corporate affairs. Denise is a champion for diversity in business and led groundbreaking diversity initiatives at Asda in the 1990’s and more recently relating to women on boards and in professional service firms.
At Eversheds she established and leads Carrie, a networking forum for female in-house lawyers, and helped established the firms first Diversity Commitee. Denise is currently an independent Non-Executive Director of the British Olympic Association, Non-Executive Vice-Chairman of Northern Ballet and sits on the Council of the University of York. She has previously held non-executive roles in the retail, financial services, construction, leisure, health and education sectors.
