Negotiating contracts of employment: getting what you deserve

Wednesday 9 June 2010

Last year's Equalities Commission report revealed that some 40 years on from the Equal Pay Act, women in the City were still earning less than their male counterparts and that this was so at all levels, including the most senior roles.

In their book, Why Women Don't Ask, Linda Babcock and Sara Laschever highlighted both women's reluctance to simply "ask" for more and the fact that they tended to have less well honed negotiating skills both of which factors led to women earning more than men.  Moreover, the estimated cost to women over a lifetime can be as much as £500,000 which has significant implications for women's financial well-being.

Whether you're thinking of changing jobs in the near future or just believe that you're worth more than you currently earn and want to ask for more, then this interactive seminar which covers both the legal and practical of negotiating your contract of employment will hit the spot.

The session will cover key areas interfaced with practical examples to show how the highest paid achieve their dream package and will include:

  • Tackling pay discussions
  • Bonuses and benefits
  • Dealing with sex discrimination
  • Making it to the boardroom
