Waiting never seemed so good for this year’s winner of the Women in the City Woman of Achievement Award 2014, sponsored by Misys – a leading financial services software provider.
Canadian-born Debra Ward, Managing Director for Europe and North America, Macro, beat six other high achieving women to capture the overall Award which was announced today at the 12th Annual Women in the City Celebration Lunch, in the City of London.
Heading up the Macro Executive team Debra is in charge of expanding the client base and geographic reach of the business, and for setting its strategic direction. With her background in hospitality, Debra has strived to introduce the concept of ‘service culture’ to facilities management placing value in her organisation’s most valuable resource, namely, its people.
On presenting the Woman of Achievement Award, Gwen Rhys, CEO and Founder of Women in the City, said
Debra’s passion for supporting the progress of women is now part of her DNA. As her career developed she didn’t really appreciate her responsibility as a role model and champion, but a comment from a junior changed that. Debra now puts equal energy into supporting the progress of women as she does into building the business. The way she leverages her networks and invests her personal time and resources is an example to us all.
