Emma Codd is the 2015 Woman of Achievement

30 November, 2015 By WiC

We are delighted to announce that Emma Codd was named the Winner of the 2015 Woman of Achievement Award  at the Women in the City Annual Celebration Lunch helf on 27 November.

I am truly honoured to have received this award, particularly when I look at the incredible women that are the other category winners. I have worked over many years to help ensure that women are able to flourish at Deloitte, initially as a client-facing partner and as the sponsor of our Women’s Network for several years and most recently as Managing Partner for Talent. Since being appointed to this role in June 2013, and with the full support of my CEO, I have had an incredible opportunity to really make difference.

From ensuring that all our women are truly able to balance a successful career with family life (through a relentless focus on agile working) and launching the first return to work internship programme in professional services, to embarking on a significant programme focused on respect and inclusion – I have loved every moment of it. I still have so much to do, but when I look back over the past two years I am proud of what I have achieved. This award is the ultimate confirmation of this and I am so proud to have won it.

Judging Panel Comment:

Emma evidenced both the breadth and depth of the change she has created within her organisation. She had the courage to challenge entrenched norms and in so doing changed processes and, importantly, influenced organisational culture.

She impressed the Judges in her fearless pursuit of what she believes in, her ethos and her entre- and intra-praneurial spirit. Being a “rainmaker” gives her clout within the organisation and she has a pragmatic approach to balancing the needs of the business with raising young twins who she describes as “her first priority”.

Women in the City Founder and CEO said of Emma:

Emma has left a long term impression on me as I am sure she has on others. She identified a problem and was fearless in challenging those at the very top. She has a clear sense of what she wants to achieve now and can articulate what her legacy might be – 30% women as equity partners this year, 50:50 men:women taking Time Out (sabbaticals) and, longer term, 25% of managers to be female.

Already a very successful business women, Emma knows she’s not a “finished product” and understands how winning the Award will help her achieve her personal career goals.
