After an unprecedented raft of incredible nominees, this year’s Judging Panel found it impossible to select one overall winner from the 5 Finalists.
After hours of deliberation, the panel agreed that both Dr Deborah Gill (Interim Director, UCL Medical School, University College London) and Naomi Bowman (Senior Manager, Governance & Operations – Group Monitor Liaison Office, HSBC Holdings Plc) should be the joint winners of the Future Leaders Award.
Whilst they are working in vastly different fields and at different stages in their careers, their joint win highlights how being a leader invokes a huge variety of different skills to lead and inspire others.
Taking into account the various skills set and progression pathways, the Judges felt that, in each of their sectors, Gill and Bowman are both great Future Leaders.
However, despite the difference in both their skills and industries, they do have one of the most important attributes in common: the possession of the kind of inspiration needed to be an outstanding aspirational role model.
