Winner 2015 – Emma Codd

Managing Partner for Talent at Deloitte LLP

I am truly honoured to have received this award, particularly when I look at the incredible women that are the other category winners. I have worked over many years to help ensure that women are able to flourish at Deloitte, initially as a client-facing partner and as the sponsor of our Women’s Network for several years and most recently as Managing Partner for Talent. Since being appointed to this role in June 2013, and with the full support of my CEO, I have had an incredible opportunity to really make difference.

From ensuring that all our women are truly able to balance a successful career with family life (through a relentless focus on agile working) and launching the first return to work internship programme in professional services, to embarking on a significant programme focused on respect and inclusion – I have loved every moment of it. I still have so much to do, but when I look back over the past two years I am proud of what I have achieved. This award is the ultimate confirmation of this and I am so proud to have won it.

Judging Panel Comment:

Emma evidenced both the breadth and depth of the change she has created within her organisation.  She had the courage to challenge entrenched norms and in so doing changed processes and, importantly,  influenced organisational culture.

She impressed the Judges in her fearless pursuit of what she believes in, her ethos and her entre- and intra-praneurial spirit.  Being a “rainmaker” gives her clout within the organisation and she has a pragmatic approach to balancing the needs of the business with raising young twins who she describes as “her first priority”.

Women in the City Founder and CEO said of Emma:

Emma has left a long term impression on me as I am sure she has on others.  She identified a problem and was fearless in challenging those at the very top.  She has a clear sense of what she wants to achieve now and can articulate what her legacy might be –  30% women as equity partners this year, 50:50 men:women taking Time Out (sabbaticals) and, longer term, 25% of managers to be female.

Already a very successful business women, Emma knows she’s not a “finished product” and understands how winning the Award will help her achieve her personal career goals.

"One in four domestic homicides involve people over 60, the vast majority female – 25% of the total, the fastest-rising domestic homicide rate. One in six older people experience abuse every year." This article is very distressing. Reading this on #IWD2021 is horrendous twitter.com/guardian/statu…

@sharonodea @Rachel0404 Yes Sharon, 💯. It's not women who need fixing, it's not women who need to do the heavy lifting. It's not women who need to do better, it's the inherent misogynistic culture that continues to pervade society that needs to be addressed #IWD2021

@edreyesjourno Watched it last week. What a stunning programme. So many highlights. That stained glass window - simply stunning. By the time 9pm arrives, we'll have heard all the extracts we need to hear from M&H!
