Accountancy Category Winner 2013
As both an accountant and a tax practitioner I know there are many fantastic and inspirational women in our profession, which makes me even more proud to have won the Accountancy Category award. I look forward to seeing more EY people winning this award in the future.
Joanna Santinon is a tax partner at global professional services firm EY, sponsor of the EY Women’s Network and key representative on the 30% Club’s steering committee.
She founded the EY FTSE women’s network, which meets regularly to discuss business issues, and has spearheaded the 30% Club’s cross company women’s mentoring programme, being pilot tested in 2013. As an inspirational sponsor of EY’s Women’s Network, she has grown the membership to nearly 3,000 people and guided the co-leaders to create internal and external development sessions, client seminars, philanthropic activity and tailored support for more junior members.
Jo is a mother of two pre-school children.
Judging Panel Comment
Joanna is an approachable emerging role model with a visible track record of achievement.
She has an amazing strength and presence – a strong but humble persona with a thoughtful and pragmatic approach.
Her activities in support of the progress of women reach beyond her own organisation – the scale of her ambition is incredible. She can articulate the difficulties in achieving her goals including awareness that it’s not only about the number of women in senior roles that is important but the accessibility and visibility of them. She is active in looking for ways to engage men in her initiatives and appreciates their importance in shifting business perception in the long term. The judging panel are confident that winning this category will enhance her profile to the benefit of a large number of women.
